Today was actually really fun and it was really nice to not only discuss our project and the hopes of how it will turn out but it was also a really nice bonding experience for our team! :) We had our interview with Mrs. S. As much as we love her, I'd be lying if I didn't say that the interview was intimidating XD But it actually went really well! Other than that, we finished our guidelines and took some pictures together at the end of the day which was really fun! We're going to get our equipment next time and officially start!! We're so excited! :)

Though I haven't officially started building our ROV yet, I have created a plan on the exact size and measurements of how we want to build our ROV. Last class, I spent some time playing around with the pipes to get an idea of what we wanted to do. With the hula hoop obstacle course being one of our challenges for the big day, we were lucky enough to have some hula hoops in the classroom and Mrs. S and Mana recommended for me to test out the practice model with the hula hoop. It took me a while to get the frame together, but after getting an idea of how I wanted it to turn out, I decided to measure the sides. I measured them in centimeters. The sizes were 43.5, 43, 36, and 43.5 again. I knew that these measurements wouldn't exactly work out because it wasn't easy to put together and the shape was kind of weird (When I showed it to Mana, it accidentally fell apart oops :0) Today, I recorded the measurements and created a simple, mini sketch on a piece of paper. After looking forward through the measurements again more carefully, I thought that our ROV could a 44 cm by 36 cm (Let me know if you have a different suggestion, Mrs. S! :)) For next class, my plan is to create the actual model and to hopefully test them out with the PVC's. And I also want to create a more legitimate sketch for our model, even though I suck at drawing XD

Today, I spent the whole class period working on the frame of the ROV. It was actually so much harder than I imagined. This weekend, I plan to create the official sketch and plans for the ROV so I could really start getting to work on Tuesday.

I have legitimately been writing in the last two blogs saying that I would officially start building the actual ROV after figuring out the measurements and playing with the pipes Mrs. S put out in the back of the classroom. But after today, I now know for sure that by next class, I will get the actual building started. My plan for today before stepping into the classroom was to create one last frame out of the practice pipes, talk to Mrs. S about it, buy the real pipes, than start building. I didn't get all of that done today, but based on what happened, I believe we're in a good place. I created another practice frame, and paid very close attention to the measurements, and made a drawing. After having one last conversation with Mrs. S, I plan to make one last practice frame based on the drawing I made today, buy the real pipes, and officially get started.

Okay, I'm honestly starting to worry a little bit because the other teams have already started cutting their pipes, setting up the frames, putting the motors together etc. I'm literally just getting started. I was able to follow up with my plan for today. Making one last practice frame and officially start making the actual thing. I was able to finally buy the materials right before the end of class. I really hope today, I can get the whole thing done because we gotta have a working ROV in the water today by the end of class.

I FINALLY GOT OUR FRAME BUILT! There's still some things that could've been taken care of to make it better, but I'm still really proud of myself. I wasn't in for how much work it would actually take in one day. I had to stay an hour after school, but it was worth it. Also it was kind of new, I used a power drill for the first time! It was scary, but it was also a success (I didn't get hurt) But I'm really proud of the work I did today, I feel like I'm making much more progress and I'm really proud.
